Andromeda Episode Review

In which Beka needs new friends.

What Happened

Sid Profit, the old partner of Beka's father, is running for Second Triumphvire. When Andromeda is assigned to take Sid to Cinti for the election, Beka is horrified, remembering that time Sid tried to kill her. When Sid is shot and nearly dies, Dylan and Beka investigate the assassination attempt and the ensuing chaos caused by his business partner's revenge attempts.

The Good

  • "Sometimes, you have to shake the hand of those you otherwise wouldn't want to. The difficult part is not letting them see you using the other hand to draw the knife." Tyr is so comforting.
  • Dylan: "I've played the Moral Compromise for Greater Good game before, but Sid seems like one compromise too many." Nice to hear him complaining about some of the new bureaucracy's restraints.
  • New. Sid-be-almost-dead. He totally set it up himself.
  • Harper's good news: "Sid got shot on the planet. Usually foreign dignitaries wait until they get onboard to suffer their brutal suspicious deaths."
  • Sid: "Shall we dispense with the pleasantries? I have said hello; you have invited me to go to hell. Can we get down to business?"
  • Beka's relationship with Sid and with the memory of her father is as complicated as it ever was. No easy resolutions.

The Bad

  • Why does Dylan expect Beka to apologize? Wouldn't it be easier to just keep her out of Sid's way?
  • If Andromeda is the Fleet Commander, why haven't we seen them commanding the fleet?
  • Dylan. Dylan. Dylan. Anybody and everybody can steal Beka's ship. Haven't you been paying attention?

The Cliche

  • Right. Right. Sid and Beka are forced to fight together and we all know there's nothing like some violence to bring people together.

What Did I Think?

Entertaining, and the story was well-thought out compared to last week.
