The Girl in Question

Angel Episode Review

In which Angel wasn't in charge of the head.

What Happened

Angel and Spike get a call that Buffy has run afoul of a chap called The Immortal, who they have met before. They rush off to Rome to "save" her, only to find that they've misunderstood the situation: Buffy is dating The Immortal, not fighting him.

Turns out, The Immortal's pulled this trick before, when he stole a rendezvous with Darla and Drusilla a century or two before. Thoroughly depressed, Angel and Spike reluctantly decide to take care of some Wolfram & Hart business and retrieve the head of a demon crime family.

The bowling bag with the head in it is stolen for ransom, however, leading to a scene where Angel and Spike putter around on a moped. And another where they visit the Rome branch of Wolfram & Hart. And another where they get blown up.

Back in LA, Wesley is upset when Fred's parents arrive to visit her. Rather than watch Wesley tell them Fred is dead, Illyria changes her appearance and pretends to be Fred. Horrified, Wes allows her to keep it up until the Burkles leave, then tells her to never do it again.

In the end, Angel and Spike go back to Buffy's apartment to see if her date is over yet. Even Andrew can see how pathetic they are. Realizing he's right, they return to LA, where the head has been returned by The Immortal along with a polite note.

What We Learned

  • The "full cock" has been working so well for us.
  • Sending lackeys to do your stalking for you? That is really pathetic.
  • So, by "Room of Pain," Angel is referring to the hair, right?
  • The Immortal has no sense of indecency. He had the audacity to save Angelus' nuns.
  • That noise you heard was the last shreds of Wesley's sanity slipping away.
  • Spike isn't about to let Buffy wind up with a jerk like the Immortal. Or Angel.
  • Sleeping together is a relationship if you do it enough times.
  • Angel wasn't in charge of the head.
  • One time Spike tangled with the Immortal and was thrown in jail for tax evasion.

Best Lines

Dru: "Will you hold me under the water?"
Darla: "If you wish."

Spike: "Can't we just lock her away in a box, where no one can touch her?"
Angel: "I don't think she'd let us. ... She's pretty strong."

What Did I Think?

Once I accepted that this was one of the "funny" ones, my head stopped hurting so much.
