Harm's Way

Angel Episode Review

In which Harmony is no good at the independent and evil thing.

What Happened

On the day of some delicate peace negotiations between two warring demon clans, Harmony wakes up in bed next to a corpse. She's upset enough because Angel has instituted a strict "no killing people" policy for vampires working at Wolfram & Hart, and then she learns that her pick-up date was the missing negotiator.

Frantic to cover her tracks, Harmony tries to figure who at the office would want to set her up. As the clans demand a life for a life before they'll sit down to talk, Harmony identifies a rival from the typing pool. Their fight scene carries them into the conference room, where Harmony accidentally stakes her foe before she can explain what really happened to Angel.

Fortunately, the clans agree that this random dusting can count as their vengeance and move forward with the peace talks. Grateful, Angel tells Harmony that she can go on living, if she'll just get them some coffee.

What We Learned

  • It's called a "zero tolerance" policy, not a "maybe this once" policy.
  • A bit of a hangover is to be expected from all the drinking.
  • Gazing at a Vinji's ankles can lead to eye gouging.
  • Caterers. Not the best listeners.
  • Apparently, W&H owns the police.
  • Harmony so owes people dinner.

Best Line:

Spike: "Any message for Buffy?"
Angel: "Tell her you're a moron."

What Did I Think?

Far be it for me to deny Harmony her character development, but I'm always a little suspicious of the episodes that ignore main characters in favor of focusing on tiny blonde "comic" reliefs. It's too easy to become a trend. (See also, Andrew over on Buffy.)
