Long Day's Journey
Angel Episode Review
In which things start getting good.
What Happened
The gang plus Gwen discover that the Beast is collecting magical tokens from four super-powered deities (like the Little Girl at Wolfram and Hart) in order to assemble a device that will blot out the sun. After the last one is killed despite being under Angel and Cordelia's protection, the gang confronts the Beast, but are unable to stop his plan. After the Beast disappears, Cordelia tells the others that she has had a vision of the Beast and Angelus - prompting Wesley to suggest that they summon up the evil vamp in question and ask him what's going on.
The Good
- So, Cordi told Connor that Angel saw them together? Instead of looking guilty and lying that nothing was wrong? There's a first.
- "Origins shrouded in mystery." That makes so much more sense than the whole "Pre-dates written history" crap.
- Angel vs. Cordelia, talking over their recent history. They are a lot more interesting in scenes together.
- Angel and Gwen. Even more fun than Angel and Cordi.
-
Cordi: "Why push my buttons?"
Angel: "Because it's so much fun to make you crazy for a change." Go, Angel. - Angel giving orders, using team members - and weapons - in a logical fashion. Compared with Miss Talks-a-lot over on Buffy.
- "We need Angelus." I was so sure that Cordi was evil and iced Manny, until they dragged Angelus into it. (Which, it turns out, was exactly what I was supposed to think.)
The Bad
- Angel hair.
- I admit to a slight giggle over how top-heavy Horn Guy was. The actor probably threw out his neck supporting all that.
The Cliche
- Murder mysteries where everyone claims they were asleep when the guy was torn to pieces.
Best Lines
Lorne: "That's quite a likeness. Do you mind if I run screaming from the room?"
Angel: "Close the door on your way out."
Wesley: "As evil plans go, it doesn't suck."
What Did I Think?
So much fun and actually moves the story forward!
