Offspring
Angel Episode Review
In which there is Darla.
What Happened
Someone inflicts some flashbacks on the audience, because we will have to remember who Holtz is at the end of the episode. We get to see how he once captured and tortured Angelus for a little while, before Darla showed up and started kicking butt.
Observing Angel and Cordelia sparring, Fred mentions that they seem to be into each other, which results in him clumsily denying that he loves Cordi. This is about when Darla, heavily pregnant, shows up in the lobby.
Cordelia, surprising everyone, takes Darla's side in this. She's mega-upset about Angel lying when he swore he would never sleep with Darla. Not caring about Angel's current love life, Darla demands that they figure out what's going on, so Wesley suggests they ask the Host.
All he's got are prophecies yammering about a darkness that is supposed to be rising, making everyone worried. Left alone, Darla bites Cordi and then makes a run for it when Angel comes to her defense. Ordering the others to stay behind, Angel goes after Darla.
Angel finds her at a children's arcade, about to chow down in a little boy. After the fight scene, Darla tells Angel to kill her, but he can't when he realizes that the baby has a heartbeat... and a soul.
While the gang decides what to do about Darla, Fred finishes her calculations on the Nyazian prophecies and announces that whatever is coming is arriving right now. ("We're at Now now.") Elsewhere, beneath the streets, a demon is casting a spell to awaken a great warrior: Holtz.
