The Thin Dead Line
Angel Episode Review
In which Wesley gets hurt.
What Happened
Anne asks Gunn for help figuring out why the local cops are targeting the kids who use her runaway shelter. What he and his friends learn is that the cops hereabouts have been turned into zombies.
Zombies who don't care much about letting the law get in the way of keeping the peace. When Wesley tries to help out, he "accidentally" gets caught in the crossfire and takes a bullet to the chest. Faced with exposure, the zombie cops gang up and attack the shelter, determined to wipe out the "bad element."
At the same time, Angel has run afoul of a zombie cop and starts an investigation of his own. He and Kate track down the zombie master, the Captain of the local precinct. They break his spell, just in time to save everyone in the shelter.
Hearing about Wesley's injury, Angel visits the hospital, but is still not able or willing to reconcile with his friends.
What We Learned
- What Wesley wouldn't give for a roving bands of Sprekian demons. Without the ritualistic sacrifices, of course.
- They can't expect evil to just walk through the door.
- Angel can't knock. Merl doesn't make that funny expression when he knocks. Or if he does, Angel doesn't see it.
- Anne thought she'd see how the other half lives. Strangely enough, it's not that different.
- Angel seems broken up by the thirteen dead lawyers.
- Nothing says "A-ha, I'm on to you" like being on the receiving end of a brutal police beating.
- That's really a dumb plan.
- Gunn graduated with a degree in dumb planning from Angel University.
- It's not like that third eye is really going anywhere.
- Gunn's never had to look so hard to find trouble before.
- If the circuits are busy, get some new circuits.
- Angel can live with a lot of things.
What Did I Think?
A couple of nice scenes, but there are better episodes out there.
