Untouched
Angel Episode Review
In which there are Daddy Issues.
What Happened
Lilah is far too interested in one of Angel's cases.
What Did I Think?
Obvious and boring. Not a pleasant combination.
We've seen Angel pull this save-the-girl routine before. In the background are more hints about Wesley's less than stellar home life and childhood. The scene where he pushes Bethany is well done, but it's all very frustrating. For one thing, it's always the little girl being abused by her father. For another, Wesley is the character we see every week and it would be nice to get some solid detail on his background, not just bits in between some else's angst.
The new part of this story is a closer look at Lilah and her methods. She's opportunistic and almost always gets someone else to do her dirty work for her. She's also pretty damn self-centered, only concerned about - or even aware of - the pain she causes when it threatens to blow up in her own face. Unlike Lindsey, who keeps his cool for the most part, Lilah gets flustered when things go wrong and starts talking before she thinks. She has this need to gratify her ego by getting the last word in, like when she teases Angel, "Sweet dreams," a reference to how Darla is messing with his mind.
