That Vision Thing

Angel Episode Review

In which Lilah picks on Cordelia and Darla is still pregnant.

What Happened

Everyone's been worried about Cordelia and the toll that her visions from the Powers That Be are taking on her. Despite downplaying the pain, Cordi is being hit harder and harder each time, and her body is starting to manifest a physical reaction in the form of slashes and scars.

Wes summons Lorne and asks him to read Cordelia, hoping to trace the visions back to the Powers That Be. Lorne's in the middle of that when another vision hits. His diagnoses, once he wakes up, is that her visions aren't being sent by the Powers That Be.

Lilah, at Wolfram & Hart, is manipulating the whole process to get Angel to rescue a client from a mystical prison. As Wesley figures out how to get there, he realizes that the prison and its protectors are objects of Good. Angel doesn't care; he'll do whatever it takes to save Cordelia.

In the demon dimension fortress, Angel finds the client suffering in a big box of fire and his way barred by a demon. Skip's a nice enough guy, for a demon, but Angel still has to beat him senseless in order to complete his task.

The trade-off is made, Burning Boy in exchange for reversing the effects of the visions on Cordelia. To make sure no one will come at him through Cordelia again, Angel graphically demonstrates what will happen to Lilah if she tries.

At the same time all this is going on, Darla is trying to find someone who can rid her of the child she carries. Failing in her last hope, she decides to return to LA... and Angel.

What We Learned

  • That felt quite genuine.
  • If Fred feels comfortable enough grading their sincerity, perhaps she could join them for the rest of the meal instead of hiding under the table.
  • Gavin wears Gucci loafers.
  • Minion of darkness. Satan's toadie. But that is a nice suit.
  • Fred's been forking with Gunn.
  • H is a fascinating letter.
  • Whatever you're searching for is always in the last place you look.
  • Next to Fred, Cordelia is downright linear.
  • It would be too easy if Angel could actually defend himself.
  • Yeah. Darla's still pregnant. And not very happy about it.

What Did I Think?

Back when the idea of Angel and Cordelia didn't make one hurl. In other words, before they screwed it up.
