Beastmaster
Old fashioned syndicated action show with a promordial fairy tale vibe that stood out when compared to Hercules and Xena. Worth a watch, especially the early episodes.
I have a personal fondness for the first season, which was less pedestrian than later years. On the other hand, if you've got no patience for spending half an episode following a tiger around the jungle, then you might prefer the third season, which had a very defined arc story with a strong beginning and end.
In fact, each season stands on its own, sometimes rewriting its own history from one year to the next. It was almost like three different shows that happened to have the same cast and crew. Very strange.
Starring Daniel Goddard, Jackson Raine, Monica Schnarre, and Stephan Grives.
Best Of
- The Demon Curupira
- Curupira was a fun little character. Also gives us Dar's origin as the Beastmaster.
- The Last Unicorns
- My favorite. So fairy tale and pretty.
- Revelations
- First season finale wraps up Kyra's story. Beautifully shot and the second half just builds to a great conclusion.
- A Terrible Silence
- Iara is like deep and stuff. Also gives us some great work from the Ancient One.
- Turned to Stone
- Straight-foward evil demon tale, enlivened by some interplay between Dar and the Sorceress.
Worst Of
- Riddle of the Nymph
- A whole herd of rude children try to take over the world. Also featuring the Firey Teeter-Totter of Death.
- The Slayer
- Baffling little blonde. Who gets cursed with "lonliness" anyways?
- Tiger, Tiger
- Rewrites history and subjects me to Marc Singer smirking? No. No. No.
