Prey for the Hunter
Birds of Prey Episode Review
In which Reese needs a new partner.
What Happened
Reese's new partner is a meta-human who can absorb the powers of other metas near him. The cop, who tries to poison Reese against meta-humans like Helena, kills meta-humans with their own powers.
The Good
- Reese and Helena's budding relationship is marginally interesting. I'd like them to stop repeating the 'you can't tell me your name?' conversation, however.
The Bad
- There's meta-human "street"? God, I hope not.
- Why is Batman a mystery to these people? Why go the 'secret' route? Been there. Done that.
- The driver yells that Helena and the cop "came out of nowhere." They were standing still in the middle of the street? How is that coming out of nowhere?
- The cop tells Reese to shoot Helena before she kills him. She's holding him the by throat, but he's still able to talk, so she can't be choking him to death.
- All up on the Clocktower. Are we going to have a weekly wrap-up here every episode?
The Cliche
- "I hear you have a corpse here with a cause of death that can charitably described as screamingly weird." Reese's new partner: too helpful to be trusted.
- You can't kill him. But talking him into killing himself is okay?
- Half-human. Half-meta. God, I hate this half-and-half argument. It bugged me on Star Trek, it bugs me here.
Best Line
Reese: "Is that one big bug, or lots of little bugs?"
What Did I Think?
Back to the quality of the pilot. Not a good thing.
