Primal Scream

Birds of Prey Episode Review

In which society's a cage and I decide I don't care.

What Happened

Helena goes undercover with a group of thieves, but her new partner Reese worries that she's having too much fun working on the wrong side of the law.

The Good

  • That's Sarah Brown from General Hospital as one of the gang. She's moved ... um, sideways ... in the world.

The Bad

  • Helena robbing the bar with the gang. So how did she swallow that drink? There was no mouth in that mask. The drink should have just dribbled down her shirt.

The Cliche

  • You thought that Helena and Reese were talking about sex, didn't you? Yeah. Neither did I.
  • Wade and Barbara decide to take it "slow" and wind up in bed. Why can't characters just decide they're going to have sex and do it? Why always go for the "twist"? Can they imagine anyone is surprised by it?
  • Dinah. Dinah. That's the sort of "I'm fine" that precedes a third act breakdown.
  • The gang has a boss only the leader has met. Do you think it's Harley? It must be. Everyone else has found somewhere more interesting to be.
  • McNally scoffs at Helena's information, as the gang realizes they are being watched. He is more toasted than a Pop Tart.

Best Lines

Barbara: "Don't say the word 'sex' in front of Alfred."
Helena: "He's heard it before, or heard of it."

Barbara: "Do you think it runs in the family?"
Alfred: "The allure of life outside the law? Always. She is her father's daughter." At least someone remembers that Dad wasn't exactly a straight-up guy and not blame everything on Catwoman.

What Did I Think?

I did not even finish watching this episode.
