Slick

Birds of Prey Episode Review

In which there is good dialogue. Who'da'thunk?

What Happened

Helena and Barbara decide to investigate Dinah, suspecting that she is lying to them about why she left home. Harley hires a meta-human who can turns himself to water to hijack a truck full of weapons, but when Reese and his partners get in the way, "Slick" starts targeting them in preparation for his second attempt.

Best Lines

It started off with another lame voice-over, then another visit to with Helena's psychiatrist. Snoozer, right? Not exactly... The dialogue was so much better this time around that it made up for a lot.

Harley: "This is your last court-mandated session."
Helena: "Then I must be officially sane. I'm so relieved."

Harley: "It will be a vengeance that will be spoken of in terrified whispers for generations to come. Do you understand me?"
Slick: "Not really. No."

Helena: "It's a kind of 'draft me for the chess club' look." Dinah did look like she'd raided Dawn's closet for that argyle sweater.

Helena: "And I used to lie to you all the time, only I was better at it."
Barbara: "No, you weren't.
Helena: "She could get into anything ... Hey! That's my sweater!"

Barbara: "It's what your father would have done."
Helena: "That man was your role model. Not mine."

Barbara: "I need lung tissue."
Helena: "Come on. It's Friday night."

Helena: "What kind of idiot says no to thirty million dollars?"
Either a detective who is swimming in a pool after two of his colleagues were drowned on dry land - or an orphan refusing her inheritance from her millionaire father.

Helena: "Gratitude is not the same as trust."

What Did I Think?

All this and a better story to wrap around the dialogue and a good fight scene at the end? This should have been the pilot.
