Never Leave Me

Buffy Episode Review

In which there's a whole lotta not much going on.

What Happened

Willow finds Andrew in town and brings him to the Summers' house. Buffy tries to find out what Spike knows, and finally realizes she is battling the First Evil.

The Good

  • Dawn: "Her exact words were 'I've got stuff coming out of both ends.'" It was a nice cover, Dawn, but may have been way too much information.
  • Andrew: "Warren killed Tara, and he was aiming for Buffy..."
Willow: "Not making it better." Nice venom from Alyson Hannigan.
  • Buffy: "You don't know me." It's about time, girl. Speak for yourself for once.
  • "You changed." If we're going with the Spike wanted a soul theory, this is a valid point. He wasn't cursed against his will, like Angel. I wished they'd explored the William/Spike/Souled-Spike split a little more.
  • Travers: "Still masters of our fate. Still Captains of our soul." Still full of crap. Nice build to the part where the Watchers blow up by reminding us how useless they are.

The Bad

  • "The girl [Buffy] knows nothing." Shut up, Travers. You don't know that. You'd probably have to talk to her for more than a minute before deciding that.
  • Are lame pop culture references the only way Andrew can communicate?
  • I hate all the references to Buffy being at fault in her relationship with Spike. Could we also talk about what a jerk he was? Sometime?

The Cliche

  • So Spike's going through withdrawal now because he can't drink blood? Why did Angel never mention this? Why didn't we see Spike dealing with this when the chip was put in? Because when the chip was in, there weren't as interested in white-washing him as not to blame for his actions.

Best Lines

Spike: "Did I hurt anyone?"
Buffy: "You took a good bite out of Andrew."
Spike: "Who?"

What Did I Think?

So much going on - but nothing really happened.
