Jane and the Truth Snake

Coupling Episode Review

In which that would be like an octopus.

What Happened

Jane causes a massive pile up after her traffic report goes horrifically wrong and she is fired. She takes refuge in Sally's salon. Sally suggests some vodka might help.

Off in Patrick's world, he's busy dumping his latest after she rules out, at any point in the future, the possibility of a threesome. How can a relationship survive without hope?

Patrick admits to the guys that he's never had a threesome. He doesn't think anyone has, but women can at least pretend to be interested in one. Just after he leaves a message on her answering machine, Linda comes into the bar. She's reconsidered. Patrick is thrilled when she wants to have one tonight and goes over to her place to get ready.

Linda, meanwhile, recruits a third party: Jeff.

Jane decides to go into children's television and creates "Aunt Jane and her Little Friend Jake" - a sock puppet snake. Unfortunately, Jake turns on Jeremy when he arrives to give Jane her job back. (People have been calling in, apparently.) Jake accuses Jeremy of hiring Jane because he wants to sleep with her. Jeremy announces that he's taking this to the station manager. He has a long history in radio and Jane has "reasonably attractive breasts."

As he leaves, Jane realizes that she really does like reporting traffic - and tomorrow someone else will be doing it - can you imagine anything more disappointing?

How about showing up for a threesome and finding... well, I think you can guess what Jeff and Patrick found.

And by the way, Jake the snake apparently gives good traffic.

What Did We Learn

  • Lets start with a big meditation in aid of reduced road congestion.
  • Sally has an increasing face.
  • The point of an overdose is that you exceed the recommended dosage.
  • So long as you've got cleavage, who cares which way its facing.
  • It's a bad idea to actually count women's breasts.
  • The whole bus stares at you
  • Jane has nine separate layers of identity.
  • Well, we all get lonely sometimes.

Best Lines

Jeremy: "Sometimes you change the names of streets."
Jane: "Only when I need a rhyme."

Jeff: "I'm always this nervous. You're just closer and can see it better."

Susan: "It's bound to wear off eventually."
Steve: "What? Being Jane?"

What Did I Think?

Jane was overdue for some attention.
