The Man with Two Legs

Coupling Episode Review

In which Jeff has too many legs.

What Happened

Jeff falls in the love with a woman on the train... or at least what he's seen of her, which is one of her legs. And once the back of her head.

Finally getting to see Chrissy's front one day, he gabbers out something about how "it's great to see her legs together for once." Jeff covers - if you can call it that - by telling Chrissy that he has a wooden leg. She attributes his weirdness to being worried about his leg and decides that he's just her type.

Sally tells Susan and Jane that she is dating a surgeon and has even broken her previous commitment record. Susan and Jane are thrilled for her - what wrong with him?

Sally admits that there is one glaring fault with Liam: she can't stop criticizing him.

Sally introduces Liam to her friends, hoping that they won't notice his discreet, slightly off-center head. During introductions, Jane recognizes Liam as her butcher, much to Sally's dismay. Still thinking Liam's a surgeon, the guys become worried about Sally's health when Liam notes that he's one of his "regulars." He just needs to "sort her out," professionally speaking.

Jeff tries to tell Chrissy about his leg... just as she introduces him to her brother and his support group for people who have lost limbs. After the meeting, Chrissy invites Jeff back to her flat and shows off her hot roommate as extra incentive.

Desperate, Jeff is reduced to cursing his body parts and begging Liam for help with his extra leg issues.

What We Learned

  • It's a leg. What else is there to ask?
  • Here on Earth there is a gap between seeing a woman and having sex with her. It's called "conversation."
  • It's not love until you've seen her bottom.
  • He doesn't have a wife or a prison record.
  • Jane is being stalked. So she's pretty sure in her attractiveness.
  • It's so well organized.
  • Butcher's wives develop deep booming laughs and rows and rows of extra breasts.
  • Jeff is just really excited about all the underwear.

Best Lines

Jane: "You shouldn't try to change men. They don't like it."
Sally: "Then, what's the point of having one?"

Jeff: "What about my legs? She's bound to count them eventually."

What Did I Think?

Jeff's desperation is a bit over-done and the drive to the punchline a bit more obvious in this one.
