Remember This

Coupling Episode Review

In which some of us don't have a subconscious.

What Happened

Late at night, Patrick rushes over to Sally's house to help her catch a spider, only to discover that there is no spider. He dreamed her call. It's a bit awkward explaining that with Sally's date in her bed. She suggests he leave quite quickly and calls out "Good night, Spiderman" as he does.

As Sally and Patrick discuss what happened with their friends, eventually hinting around a deeper attraction, they both remember what happened when they first met.

And then there are flashbacks.

Susan brought Sally to her office Christmas party, where Patrick had also shown up. Sally remembers Patrick asking her for a phone number. She assumed he wanted Susan's number. When he moved to kiss her, Sally asked him to put on a CD - Madame Butterfly - for the perfect first kiss.

Patrick remembers Sally being very very drunk. In spite of the fact that she was seeing double, Patrick asked for Sally's phone number. She gave him Susan's number, however, then nearly passed out on him.

When Sally asked for the big aria, Patrick put on... the theme from Spiderman.

What We Learned

  • Some of us don't have dreams all the time.
  • Okay, the area seems secure.
  • There is a time for staring in the mirror and hating yourself and that time is tomorrow morning.
  • That's is a missed opportunity.
  • You take the women out first. Obviously.
  • The first snog is so important. Tells you so much about them.
  • It's like two tiny puppies in a tiny little sack.
  • It's the Walt Disney ass.

Best Lines

Jane: "Know what I think?"
Susan: "You mean sometimes you just don't tell us?"

What Did I Think?

It's a bit predictable to get Patrick and Sally together, but they are so much fun fumbling around that I can overlook that. Spiderman, indeed.
