Boone's Awakening
Earth Final Conflict Episode Review
In which Boone comes back.
What Happened
When Howlen has a hissy fit over Renee getting away, Sandoval suggests a plan: he'll resurrect William Boone, freedom fighter extraordinaire and release him into the wild to lure Renee into the open.
After somehow getting off the Mother-ship, Boone goes to see his sister Sarah, who fills him in on the whole "you've been dead three years, the Taelons are gone" thing. Boone tries to contact the Resistance again, but all of the people he used to know are gone and only Street is checking Augur's email these days.
Renee sets up a meeting with Boone and they exchange suspicions. He offers to accompany her back to the Mother-ship to blow up the hybrid chambers, but screws that up by getting himself captured by Sandoval.
They get away, but Sandoval's contingency plan has kicked in. Boone's sister Sarah has been turned into a hybrid and she lures him, Renee and Street into a trap. Boone kicks Howlen's butt, but Sarah points a gun at him. Renee shoots her in the back and Sandoval drags Howlen away before the authorities arrive.
Boone doesn't seem to blame Renee for Sarah's death, because that would imply that a) Renee isn't perfect, b) Boone isn't a saint, and/or c) the writers are capable of writing realistic drama instead of sappy space opera. They only hired Kevin Kilner for one episode, however, so Boone decides that he needs to go do that head-clearing thing and takes off.
What We Learned
- Yeah. That's what is stopping the Atavus from conquering Earth: man-power.
- Street is the poster child for bad hair days.
- Don't leave your window open as you are getting ready for bed.
- Anytime someone needs to be reminded to focus on the mission, they will immediately wander off on their own agenda and get nailed.
- It never occurs to anyone to check behind those conveniently located pillars.
- The phrase "live in the moment" is code for "impending sex scene."
- It is possible for someone to be turned into a hybrid and remain unaware of it for several days.
- Don't follow a woman into a dark alley, even if she offers to have sex with you.
- Especially if she offers to have sex with you.
- Romance is kind of tough with a woman that just shot your sister.
- Seriously. The hair. Renee and Street both need to do something about the unflattering hair length and butt-ugly bangs.
Best Lines
Boone: "You stole three years of my life from me."
Sandoval: "Actually, it was Zo'or, but I'm happy to take credit for it."
What Did I Think?
I would not have wasted any time on the trip to the Mother-ship and had Sandoval and Boone face off in the sewers while Howlen went after Renee - which was, after all, his stated purpose in starting this whole thing. Then again, no one asked me.
