Final Conflict

Earth Final Conflict Episode Review

In which Liam returns and Sandoval departs.

What Happened

Liam returns to lead Renee and Street to the Atavus mother-ship, forcing a final confrontation with Howlen and Sandoval.

The Good

  • Liam is back from wherever. Good reaction from Jayne Heitmeyer, but I do wonder why they felt he was necessary.
  • Sandoval: "I'd do it all over again, in a heartbeat. So if anyone asks, I have no regrets. for anything." Sandoval to the last.

The Bad

  • "Your destiny is on the mother-ship, Renee." Why is it so damn easy for her to wander around up there?
  • "It looks like your destiny and mine have crossed paths again." He's cute and all but, god, no wonder he annoyed people.
  • "Liam Kincaid? Dead man." So Sandoval knows that Liam is a "mutant" human and doesn't ask any more questions because he wants to go off and kill Renee? All that missed father/son angst.
  • Renee doesn't even mention to anyone Sandoval is dead? I guess she does have other things on her mind; the words "chain reaction" are never good.

The Cliche

  • Hundreds of Atavus Guardians. "If they ever get off the ship, we'll never be able to stop them." That's it, Renee, see the glass half empty.
  • Sandoval: "Five years! Five years, I've been looking for this place. It was right under my nose."We know Sandoval; we were there.
  • With only three minutes, they have time to talk about it, walk down there, remove the engines, and save the Atavus in stasis, then run out to safety before the big explosion - which doesn't at all bring the earth crashing down on them or anything?
  • Naturally Renee had to take down her hair and touch up her makeup for the final scene.

What Did I Think?

Based on what the rest of the season was, it had it's good points, but it is hard to keep from wondering what could have been...
