Bone to Be Wild
Farscape Episode Review
In which there is a very bad pun in the title.
What Happened
Caught in the asteroid field, hiding from Crais, the crew of the Moya is startled to hear a distress signal from an inhabited asteroid. D'Argo, Zhaan and John investigate, hoping the settlers had maps that will allow Moya to plot a starburst out of the field.
On the asteroid, the trio meets M'Lee, a childlike alien who glows red when she's hungry, and Br'Nee, a bestial botanist who claims his entire team was killed by M'Lee. Obviously they have their issues: M'Lee eats peoples' bones, and Br'Nee's species sent hers there to kill any predators that might have eaten the plants they were studying.
She's the only thing besides Br'Nee that's not a plant left on the asteroid, and M'Lee promises to control her hunger if John will take her somewhere with more prey. Br'Nee, meanwhile, becomes fascinated with Zhaan. Did you know Delvians are evolved plants?
Out in the rest of the galaxy, Aeryn bonds with Moya's baby, who is a hybrid of Leviathan and Peacekeeper technology. And Crais and Scorpius get into a cat fight over Crichton.
Scorpius wins.
Br'Nee captures Zhaan for study, so Crichton kills him. John gives the body to M'Lee, then tells her that they will lure a Peacekeeper force to the asteroid. Once on board the cruiser, she'll have all the food she can eat.
What We Learned
- That is the most miserable thing D'Argo has ever seen.
- Zhaan is the only thing here that D'Argo isn't allergic to.
- There are some healthy sounding sinuses.
- Out the door, turn left at the creature.
- Zhaan is flora, not fauna.
- Aeryn deserves a home where she's wanted.
- Rygel may want to keep one foot out of his mouth. He'll need it to run.
- You know, it's funny, sometimes John is very very slow.
- There is much cruelty in the universe.
Best Lines
Chiana: "A distress call? Directed at us?"
John: "Yeah. How stupid is that?"
Br'Nee: "After she's eaten one of us, the others will have a chance."
What Did I Think?
That was Marton Szokas under all that make-up. Otherwise? Eh.
