Could'a, Would'a, Should'a, pt 1

Farscape Episode Review

In which there are wormholes.

What Happened

The crew of the Good Ship Moya is in pretty bad shape. And that's before John gets too close to a wormhole and smacks into another ship that materializes inside the leviathan.

The two ships get caught in an in-between space, not quite in the wormhole and not in normal space. The leader of the other crew, Neeyala, is also studying wormholes. John bonds a little with Neeyala, who helps come up with a way to chart their path back to normal space.

Rygel, meanwhile, opens the last of the Diagnosian's cryo-chambers, releasing the woman inside. "Sleeping Beauty" isn't human, and despite John's hope, she doesn't know how to get back to Earth. What they do discover about Jool is that when she screams, it's loud and shrill enough to melt metal.

John has a little sit-down with Harvey to discuss the wormhole information. Neeyala thinks it's possible to separate the ships, but only one will survive. Shame about Moya, Harvey says. He thinks John should go with Neeyala and take all her information about wormholes. When it seems that the damage to Moya is irreparable, the crew reluctantly decides to take Neeyala's ship to safety.

Bummed about that and looking through the information collected in his mapping flight, John spots an image of Earth, just before he is attacked by a snake creature that seems to live inside the wormhole...

What We Learned

  • Death isn't always a bad thing.
  • When Chiana is cornered, she doesn't think clearly.
  • Sebacean. Intellectually suited to carry weapons and die marching in formation.
  • Circumstances are less than conducive.
  • At least John has a hobby.
  • Have to know how deep the doo-doo is if you are going to dig your way out.
  • Harvey longs for the dumpster.

Best Lines

Aeryn: "Insane."
John: "Since birth."
Aeryn: "Suicidal."
John: "Test pilot."

What Did I Think?

The "Moya in danger" bit is becoming slightly over-used. While Farscape does a lot of really good two- and even three-parters, this one might have benefited from some compression.
