Die Me Dichotomy

Farscape Episode Review

In which it's a safe guess that John's health plan doesn't cover this.

What Happened

The crew goes looking for a doctor to heal a burned out Moya. While the Diagnosian works, and his minion Grunchlk raises the price over and over, Aeryn hopes they can also remove the chip from John's head when they are done with the Leviathan.

There really isn't time: the Scorpius-clone is pretty much in complete control. "John" tells Aeryn that he loves her, then smashes her head against a wall, and sends out a signal from Moya. D'Argo hands him over to the doctor, but the Diagnosian says there seems to be nothing he can do without wiping John's mind.

In the background, D'Argo and Chiana's relationship takes a funny turn when Pilot displays a holo of D'Argo practicing a proposal to her. D'Argo's behavior lately has confused both her and Jothee, who is upset that his father wants to settle down and buy a farm.

Crais asks Aeryn to join him on Talyn. Still stinging from Scorpius' manipulation of John, she considers it, but when John runs in the Farscape module, Aeryn gives chase. John takes advantage of his superior experience flying in atmosphere - and his full crazy - and manages to force the Prowler down. Aeryn ejects, but she lands on a frozen lake and the weight of the ejection unit sinks her beneath the surface. Though her fate breaks Scorpius' control over John, he is too late to save her. Put in chains by the others, all he can do is watch as her body is prepared for burial.

Afterwards, the Diagnosian removes the chip, despite the danger. Taking it out means that John's speech abilities and memories get scrambled, but before the doctor can rewire John's brain and put things back in order, Scorpius strolls in. He takes the chip and tells John that he'll let John live on, unable to communicate, to pursue his revenge...

What We Learned

  • Misjudging Rygel is becoming Zhaan's career.
  • Grunchlk had to let an aunt die once because he couldn't afford to fix her.
  • Sometimes if John sings, Scorpius leaves him alone.
  • Pilot is no higher than he's ever been. His position is fixed.
  • That's three very small stones.
  • Now this is flying.
  • Grunchlk vomits when things get messy.
  • Don't need a translator microbe for that one, do we?

What Did I Think?

That is one killer season finale.
