Dog with Two Bones, pt 1

Farscape Episode Review

In which... everything.

What Happened

Moya goes to the Leviathan Sacred Place to bury Talyn, but they are attacked by another Leviathan who saw her children captured by Peacekeepers. Talyn being half-Peacekeeper is a problem for her. Suggesting a way to help is an Old Woman they picked up from somewhere. No one is quite sure where that was, but there you go.

As they effect repairs, John has visions of his and Aeryn's possible life on Earth. He imagines her frustrated by the language barriers and confiding to Jack that she is miserable. (Of course, we should take into account that he also imagines Jack fooling around with Chiana.)

The Mad Leviathan has killed her Pilot and threatens to attack again if they don't leave, but Moya won't back down. Moya asks the crew to help her. When Chiana and Jool deposit Talyn's remains, the Rogue attacks, but D'Argo fires from Lo-La and kills her.

This means we're done, Rygel says. We can go home.

In a trance, John sees Jack giving a toast at John and Aeryn's wedding, but there is a Peacekeeper attack led by Scorpius. All his friends are killed, and then Aeryn is hit. She dies in his arms. Coming back to himself, he reflects that he can't go to Earth and my friends are all leaving. Encouraged by the Old Woman to go after what he really wants, John finds Aeryn packing her Prowler. She is still hurt by "his" death, but he insists that he is willing to do anything for her. Leaving it to Fate, John flips a coin to decide whether to stay or go.

The choice made, John takes the Farscape module out for a spin while the others leave. As he does, he remembers the Old Woman whispering that Aeryn is pregnant. He begs Pilot to help him go after her, but before John can return to Moya, a wormhole opens and swallows the Leviathan.

What We Learned

  • English is a very difficult language. Half the time, people don't understand what John is talking about.
  • Revenge is a feast best served immediately.
  • Assassinating people seems like going backwards.
  • The key is to be honest.
  • We all lie. The lies that spew outward do much less damage than the ones that stay hidden.
  • John can't let the one thing he loves fly off in a crappy little ship.
  • Harvey has to get his nose out of the dictionary.
  • You have got to be kidding John.

Best Lines

Rygel: "Respect my tiny shiny hiney."

Rygel: "Of all the lesser species, I admit that I've grown to like yours the best."

What Did I Think?

Best last second cliff-hanger ever. Out. Of. Nowhere.
