Farscape Episode Review

In which Zhaan is blue.

What Happened

Zhaan finally tells John what happened to them after the Peacekeeper base was destroyed.

The short version is that Zhaan was already depressed with only Chiana and Rygel to rely on, when she was framed for murder on a world full of lawyers. She was so run down that she started having visions of her presumed dead crew-mates. That left Frik and Frak as her lawyers in a courtroom where if they lie, they share her sentence.

After numerous conversations with the local bartender (who is important because he was cute), Rygel eventually came up with a way to fudge the truth and manipulate the planet's superstitions for their own benefit. One might think that counted as against the rules, but they got away with it, the true killer was arrested, and Zhaan was freed.

John refrains from asking why she felt the need to bore him for an hour to get to the point (which is that Zhaan loves them all and John is particularly helpful when she needs a shoulder to lean on) and gives her a hug.

What We Learned

• That is where heart attacks come from.
• His personal problems mean nothing to Rhumann.
• The good news is that she's no longer facing trial on the traffic violation.
• This is a very ass-backward world.
• They haven't lied yet. Of course, the trial has only been on for a few microns.
• To lie before the law is unthinkable.
• Zhaan's a tenth level Pau'u. She makes it to eleven and they get a television ministry.

What Did I Think?

"Sweet dreams til sunbeams find you." I liked the beginning and the end; it was the middle that botched things up.
