Green Eyed Monster
Farscape Episode Review
In which Talyn sets up a parent trap and gets swallowed by a Budong.
What Happened
You'd think a day where the ship gets swallowed by a Budong would be bad enough, but the universe decides to kick John in the guts again. Already convinced that Crais is up to no good, he finds a holo of the deal Aeryn made to get Crais to help save him from Scorpius, followed by some shots of Aeryn and Crais "sealing" the deal. On top of that, Crais and Aeryn keep having private discussions. Finally, Aeryn announces that she will be accepting a transponder in order help keep Talyn calm while they guide him out of the Budong, triggering a vicious outburst from John. He follows her back to the bridge to apologize, but Talyn refuses to open the door for him.
Aeryn and Crais manage to contact Stark and Rigel, who are outside in a pod. Stark freaks Talyn out by insisting that no one gets out of a Budong alive. Crais collapses in pain as Aeryn calls for Crichton: Crais' chest is covered by lesions, cybernetic feedback caused by trying to resist Talyn's control over him.
Stark comes up with a plan to combine ice and fuel to get the Budong to barf and spit Talyn out. John goes on a spacewalk to arm the warhead trigger, but when he tries to get back into the ship, Talyn leaves him floating. Crais doesn't seem particularly concerned and Aeryn realizes that both he and Talyn are lying to her. Determined to get through to Talyn, Aeryn shares her feelings for John with Talyn, then tells him that he doesn't need her and pulls out the transceiver.
Later, Aeryn explains to John that Talyn altered the images to make it look like she slept with Crais, continuing that she feels adrift outside the Peacekeeper world. He shows her the star-chart he is working on. This bright one is my point of reference, he says. I always name it Aeryn.
What We Learned
- John is freezing the boys off.
- That's no moon.
- John must be smarter than he looks.
- That would be easy.
- They have devised a modified transponder for insertion.
- Stark thinks he's some sort of Budong expert.
- Rygel isn't half as loose as Chiana.
- Weather changes. And we just keep making the same mistake.
- Playing dumb with Aeryn hasn't worked for over two cycles.
- John really has no idea what a drannet is.
- Mother always said Rygel would die from incompetence.
- John is only dangerous to himself.
Best Lines
Aeryn: "Talyn, you've seen them both naked, perhaps you can tell us which is bigger?"
What Did I Think?
Is it wrong that I like Stark better when he's picking on Rygel?
