Farscape Episode Review

In which, ew.

What Happened

Everyone's out of food. Zhaan's version of starvation results in her sprouting poison spores that everyone except Aeryn is allergic to. The nearest food source is a mining camp on a Budong, a giant decaying space corpse that Chiana has visited before. It's all very wild wild west, except for the scary monster that is killing the miners off one by one.

S'Bogg, the local marshal, offers to feed the others, but tells Chiana that he's used her last bit of credit with him. T'Snogg tells Crichton and D'Argo that if they want meat, they will have to have crystals to buy it. Too bad Zhaan can't survive at this stage without meat. Not veggies. Meat.

S'Lugg is willing to give them meat in exchange for Chiana, but D'Argo vetoes that. Altana, one of Chiana's friends, tells Chiana that she found a big vein of crystals, but can't get to it now that S'Mogg closed the mines after his brother was killed by the boogedy. D'Argo offers to accompany Altana into the mines to protect her.

Zhaan's spores begin spreading until even Aeryn and Moya are affected. Aeryn is forced to open Moya to space in order to flush out all the spores. That upsets Zhaan, but Aeryn is able to subdue her and move her to a transport pod, where she can't affect Moya.

The boogedy knocks out D'Argo and kills Altana. Spotting K'Roq going into the mines, John follows and finds his Secret Snack Chamber, filled with stolen crystals. F'rogg summons the boogedy, who tries to kill John, but winds up smacked upside the head with a newspaper and crunched in a door and killed.

S'Long, meanwhile, runs into Chiana in the mines and she douses him in corrosive Budong blood, killing him.

What We Learned

  • John isn't going to get chicken soup on a Budong.
  • You can eat anything if it's fried. ... Almost anything.
  • D'Argo, it will be okay. Chiana has a plan.
  • Better shut it before something you won't like flies in.
  • We all grieve in our own way.
  • Damn, I hope Crichton has had his rabies shots.
  • John is really not interested in S'Nogg's personal life.
  • Chiana's evolving as an individual.
  • Y'all dig in now.

What Did I Think?

Another look at Chiana, but the Creature Feature portion of the story really didn't inspire.
