Farscape Episode Review

In which ransom is so difficult.

What Happened

Moya drops the Scarran from the last episode off on a medical ship. Hoping to make her own way home, Jool announces that she is also leaving, but Chiana won't let her. Chiana's getting more psychic vibes and "sees" herself mourning for Jool.

When a Peacekeeper Marauder arrives, possibly the result of John's latest scheme, Talyn destroys it, but then he turns his cannon on the med ship and blows it up as well, killing 600 people. Crais worries that Talyn's paranoia is out of control and suggests shutting Talyn down and reawakening him. Hoping to cure the personality disorder, Aeryn convinces Moya and Talyn that Crais' plan is the best way to save Talyn.

D'Argo and Rygel are off negotiating with Scorpius on John's behalf. John wants amnesty for Moya and her crew in exchange for helping Scorpius' wormhole project. Scorpius and Braca suggest a surety: a pair of bracelets that transmit the pain one person feels to the other and vice versa. If Scorpius and John wear them, they can be sure of their personal safety.

Unfortunately, just after D'Argo and Braca put the bracelets on to test them, they are caught up in a robbery in the diner where they were meeting. A pair of bumblers have arrived to torch the place for the insurance money, but they quickly decide that ransoming either Rygel or Scorpius will get them more cash. After more than is strictly necessary to overcome their dim-witted captors, the gang escapes and return to their respective ships.

What We Learned

• If D'Argo knocks all the Peacekeepers out, there will be no one left to carry them back to the ship.
• They will need something more tangible than reassuring words.
• It's a very long story.
• This robbery doesn't seem to be turning out as planned.
• Let the hostages die. Brilliant negotiating position.
• Ransom is so difficult.
• Scorpius believes that there is a basis for them to trust one another.
• John missed that dance.

What Did I Thnk?

Swirly wavy camera. Too much. Only Farscape would hold a summit in a greasy diner, then get the participants caught up in an insurance scam gone wrong.
