Lambs to the Slaughter, pt 1

Farscape Episode Review

In which this may not have been one of Crichton's better plans.

What Happened

The crew lands on the Command Carrier, Chiana and Jool registering their displeasure with the  situation the whole way. As John begins work on Scorpius' wormhole project, the others extract their own price from the Peacekeepers. Crais, for example, asks for Talyn to be brought aboard to have his guns removed, and then set free.

The Moya bunch, Aeryn and Crais in particular, are the target of a great deal of hostility from the regular Peacekeepers on the ship. When Lt. Reljik picks a fight with D'Argo, it escalates to the death of a Peacekeeper soldier. D'Argo takes Jool, Chiana and Rygel back to Moya, but they are attacked and captured by a Peacekeeper named Grayza, Scorpius' new rival for power. He insists that she free the prisoners and forces her to leave his Carrier, but she promises to return once she's spoken to High Command.

On her way out, she suggests to Reljik that if something were to happen to Crichton, who is sharing the I-Yensch bracelet with Scorpius, her way to take command would be clear. The assassination attempt is a failure, and it leaves John even more ambivalent about what he's doing. Scorpius has been explaining that the Scarran threat is greater than any bad blood between the two of them. When he guesses that John has been dragging his feet, Scorpius shows John a holo of Earth.

We are only sixty cycles away, he threatens. Let me down and I will keep you alive long enough to watch me destroy your homeworld...

What We Learned

  • It's a good deal for Scorpius.
  • John doesn't "assist." He doesn't eat at the kiddie table.
  • Crais isn't important enough for surveillance.
  • Braca is a consummate Peacekeeper.
  • I don't think Crais meant that as a compliment.
  • John is infamous for making really stupid moves when his friends are threatened.
  • John has got to stop pointing guns at people.
  • Jet packs are cool.
  • It's is Einstein's time-table. It's is God's.

What Did I Think?

John walks right onto the Command Carrier? Coolness.
