The Locket
Farscape Episode Review
In which I am really really bored.
What Happened
It's a time paradox episode! Aren't you so happy?
Aeryn goes to investigate a strange mist that may hide Moya from Peacekeeper searches, but when she comes back a day later, she's lived over a hundred cycles on another world. Had a husband and children and grandchildren even.
Poor John.
She announces that she just came back through the Plot Device that only opens every so often so that she could warn the Moya to leave the mist and not follow her. Naturally, John follows her back down and gets stuck himself and has to live the next fifty-five cycles on a garden world with happy families.
Poor John.
While Aeryn and John are off having lives, Zhaan and Stark realize that the mist is really one giant plot contrivance that Moya has to get out of before they are frozen in time forever. John and Aeryn return to Moya when the next gap opens, but Aeryn dies in the transport pod on the way up.
Poor John.
Crichton says that he thinks starbursting Moya backwards will set everything straight, so they try. They wind up back in time, where Zhaan and Stark's Connection to the Universe informs them that something is up and they prevent Aeryn from flying into the mist. Aeryn finds a locket in the transport pod and prys it open. It's supposed to be touching because she said that it held the image of the man she loved, but there's nothing but a centuries old pile of dust inside so we never find out if it's John or her husband who she married and children with.
Poor John.
What We Learned
- Don't mess with death mist.
- There is no dignity in what Chiana is doing.
- Crichton was always stubborn.
- Those from the outside are always unhappy.
- John never wanted to be a gardener.
What Did I Think?
I am fully on-board with the Great Love Story and all, but that was dull.
