Sacrifice, pt. 1: Farscape Episode Review

In which no one is trying to kill them - yet.

What Happened

Crichton and Chiana investigate a planet where Jool and D'Argo are involved in an archeological dig, lead by Vella. The Idolarans once maintained a galactic peace, but vanished millenia ago. Vella thinks that if they can find three probes and turn them on, they can turn off the magnetic storms that ravage the planet. When Vella turns up dead, the Old Woman Noranti tells John that the Idolaran probes must never be found and shows John a vision of the past to convince him.

Instead, John finds one of the devices from his vision; one side of the little pyramid is an Egyptian symbol. He's muttering about that when the PKs arrive. Grayza has tortured Scorpius into submission and decided, like everyone else in the galaxy to pry the wormhole knowledge out of John's head. She works a little attraction voodoo on him, much to Chiana's disgust.

While he's recovering from Grayza's attentions, Noranti asks John if he knows where the final probe landed. He must never tell Grayza, she says. Then, she drugs him and orders him to walk off the cliff's edge.

Just to be sure.

What We Learned

  • They are here and alive and nobody is trying to kill them.
  • Well, they are here and alive, anyways.
  • John missed a few of the big words.
  • Peace can only be maintained if there is sacrifice.

Best Lines

Chiana: "Did the Peacekeepers capture you and remove your brain and replace it with whatever you are using now?"

What Did I Think?

A little too much wandering about tunnels looking for each other. It certainly gets more interesting once Grayza shows up.
