Season of Death

Farscape Episode Review

In which people are not as dead as one might think.

What Happened

Scorpius gets a message from his Command Carrier that they will be delayed five arns, increasing the chances that he will be discovered. Rygel finds John lying, gibbering, in the lab and sounds the alert, drawing everyone down to the planet, so Scorpius uses Grunchlk as a distraction. Left reluctantly onboard Moya, a bored Chiana and Jothee wind up amusing themselves with each other.

John is being menaced by Scorpius' neural clone, and when the Diagnosian repairs John's speech, he insists that he wants to die now that Aeryn is gone. You're stronger than that, Stark tells him. John buys that, goes back into his mind and beats the crap out of Harvey.

One of the pods in the cryo-morgue auto-opens, releasing a Scarran, so Scorpius has Grunchlk send it after Crichton and D'Argo. It chases them from the operating room up onto the surface.

Zhaan shows Stark the cryo-chamber holding Aeryn. She thinks that the body still has life in it, but Stark pronounces the attempt too dangerous. Zhaan tries anyway to summon Aeryn's spirit back to her body. She wakes up in time to save Zhaan and Stark from a pair of Marauders, then gets up to the roof and blasts the Scarran.

While she is convincing John that she is really alive, Crais pursues and destroys a Marauder he thinks is carrying Scorpius and draws the Command Carrier away from the planet. After Moya leaves, Scorpius and Braca signal their forces to retrieve them from the lab.

Onboard the ship, Aeryn tells John that she loves him, but will not act on it. Emotional attachments are too dangerous, she says. I will not allow anyone else to die for me. He realizes that whatever Zhaan did to bring Aeryn back took everything she had.

Zhaan is dying.

What We Learned

  • The Devil quotes scripture.
  • Do not make D'Argo tongue him.
  • This brain ain't big enough for the two of us.
  • Grunchlk can do one of two things with his mouth.
  • Always consume your food in a room without detonating crockery.
  • A transport pod would not be attempting a stealth trajectory.

Best Lines

John: "I beat him. He was all mouth, Stark. How'd you know?"
Stark: "I didn't. I just thought it sounded good."

What Did I Think?

Handily brings everyone back to life.
