Till the Blood Runs Clear

Farscape Episode Review

In which we are very bored.

What Happened

After installing some Moya components in his ship, John and Aeryn go into flying around a planet with an especially active star, hoping to combine a solar flare with the slingshot maneuver to create another wormhole. It works, and John is all for flying though, but Aeryn objects to being hauled along and points out that the wormhole is unstable to boot. Pulling out causes a plasma leak, forcing them down to the planet for repairs.

They (as opposed to the audience) shouldn't too bored waiting for Furlow to fix the module, courtesy of a Peacekeeper Wanted beacon displaying Zhaan, Rygel and D'Argo. A pair of snarly bounty hunters spot them watching and demand to know if Aeryn and John are after their fugitives. John pulls some alpha male crap and intimidates Wolfy into taking on "Butch" and "Sundance" as partners.

The beacon includes a secret personal message to Aeryn, offering conditional amnesty and honorable retirement if she hands them all over to Crais. He gives her his oath as a Peacekeeper. As John points out, they know what that's worth, but it means something to Aeryn.

Furlow turns out to be fairly conversant with wormhole theory and interested in buying the module. She offers to trade John a newly acquired a Prowler for it and he realizes that someone's in trouble. Not wanting to wait for Crichton, D'Argo headed down to the planet. He was spotted and captured by Wolfy and Snarly before he even reached the city.

While Wolfy and Snarly are off looking for Zhaan, John frees D'Argo. They discuss their Issues and agree to be allies. It's good they established that before Snarly and Wolfy attack them in the marketplace.

Aeryn strides into the middle of the gunfight with the beacon and turns it on. She has had Furlow rewire it and Crais appears again, withdrawing the bounty. With no money at stake, Wolfy and Snarly retreat. Later, Aeryn explains that when Crais said "honorable retirement," he really meant frying her brain and triggering the Sebacian Living Death.

It's too late to catch the flares, however, and John will have to find another star. As they pack up the module, Aeryn sends Crichton to settle the account with Furlow, who isn't particularly interested in food cubes. She wants exclusive rights to the data in John's flight recorder. Anticipating the arrival of more bounty hunters, he reluctantly hands over the tape.

What We Learned

  • It's the best idea Crichton's had yet.
  • That's hardly a recommendation.
  • D'Argo obviously didn't hear him. They just started a wormhole.
  • Furlow's Motto: "Everythings going to be just fine."
  • Aeryn is no one's female.
  • John doesn't make the rules, but he certainly seems familiar with them.
  • If you go out that way, there's a truely impressive expanse of sand.
  • Some days you get lucky.
  • And some days D'Argo kicks you in the face.
  • Friendship is a lot to ask.
  • Next time you pick a place to hide, pick one with a backdoor.

Best Lines

D'Argo: "Let's start on your sensitive appendages."

What Did I Think?

A motley collection of unlikeable characters and ridiculous circumstances, with Aeryn's consideration of Crais' offer then only effective note.
