Rocky Horror Glee Show
Glee Episode Review
In which it's just a jump to the left. Glee covers the highlights of Rocky Horror, while Will hits a new low in his pursuit of Emma.
What Happened
Distraught because she seems to be overcoming her nuerosis as a result of her relationship with Carl the Dentist, Will decides to insert himself into Emma's life by putting on a production of her new favorite musical: The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Turns out, however, that Rocky Horror is pretty much unsuitable for use in a high school, so he has to scramble to rewrite songs and fill roles that the kids are too uncomfortable to play.
On the plus side, Will gets Emma to do the costumes. On the negative, she suggests that Carl take a role. Mercedes steps forward to take on one of the flashier characters, while Finn angsts over a scene done in his underwear. Having oh-so-perfect Sam about as competition doesn't help. Finn's efforts to psych himself up by strolling down the hallways in his "tightie whities" (which aren't all that tight when you get down to it) prompts Figgins to order Will to get things under control.
After a steamy rehearsal with Emma, Will finds himself being yelled at by Carl for putting the moves on Carl's girlfriend. And when he learns that Sue is participating just so that she can bash the production on the nightly news, Will admits that this was a really bad idea and calls the whole thing off. He apologizes to Emma for being out of line, then watches the kids perform one last number.
Question
- Does Will decide the school musical? When did that happen?
The Good
- Could Will be anymore transparent? His apology scene with Emma was sweet. I feel for him, but he's going to get better soon, right?
The Better
- Emma seems to know what she wants and only really gets swept up in Will the one time.
The Best
- Emma's song. Fun and sexy.
- John Stamos really looks like he's having the time of his life in his number. I love seeing that.
- Kurt as RiffRaff. Loved the body language.
Best Lines
Kurt: "What are you going to be for Halloween?"
Brittany: "I'm going as a peanut allergy."
Sue: "And we still get to torture them along the way. It's a fabulous system."
What Did I Think?
The very week Glee gets wrecked in blogs and social media for an "inappropriate" photo shoot for GQ magazine, they pull out this episode. And with the actors going, "What's the big? It's not like it a show for kids, anyways," we have Sue giving a "for the children!" speech? There's... a certain disconnect there. Is all I'm saying...
(The thing that annoyed me the most about the GQ shoot was the predictability of it all. "We don't have any other ideas. Have them take their clothes off. It'll be sexy and edgy." Sorry, but sexy stopped being edgy when Miley Cyrus started doing it.)
