Hustle

Hustle is a fun show. It's very Ocean's Eleven, but with less people running around. The focus is on style over substance - which it kind of has to be since otherwise I'd be busy pointing out to the television that the so-called "heroes" are stealing other people's money. But they are nice criminals. They dress well (even Danny) and brush their hair on a regular basis and they only ever target people who deserve to be fleeced.

The charm of the cast and production (writing, editing, and gorgeous clothes) makes it easy to ignore the occasional slip up. Every so often, I realized that I'd seen this con before. And the guest stars were sometimes not quite up to snuff. While it's easy to say, "Yes, that was the one that bugged me," the light touch of the writing meant that there weren't many plot holes or out-of-character behavior. I suppose you could take the cons apart and see what made them tick and then complain about something, but that seems like a lot of work. Why not just go with the flow and enjoy?

There are at least two more season floating around out there, but I haven't gotten my hands on them. I really don't even have all the episodes from the first four, so this is where we'll leave things. If you're looking for a smart, stylish show with some great humor, Hustle is definitely a good bet. Starring Adrian Lester, Marc Warren, and Jamie Murray.

Best Of

Eye of the Beholder
Mickey plots to steal the Crown Jewels in a delicious scheme that includes a fun end of show twist.
Albert's Challenge
As well as starting off with a bang, this one ended with some real sweet character moments. Truly one of the best.

Worst Of

There really weren't any stinkers in the batch I reviwed. I mean, there were ones that didn't impress me much, but that's not quite the same thing, is it?
