Jokers and Fools

Las Vegas Episode Review

In which Ed is trying to avoid violence.

What Happened

Ed and Danny bust Rowen, a man they suspect is connected to a cheating ring. Driving his bright yellow convertible, Danny trails Rowen to a bar where he gets the manager to give him a look through the peephole in the back. He sees more than he expected when he spots Nessa meeting with Rowen. Nessa meets with Rowen's boss, the Professor, who wants to know how her notorious father wound up working for Ed. He's suspicious of her motives, but is swayed by the prospect of her getting him a ten million dollar pot.

Ed convinces a chef named Gunter to give Delinda a job in his restaurant. She becomes something of a distraction in the kitchen, however, so Gunter finds her something else to do. As his hostess, she has plenty of plans for improving things. Mary hits on the casino's psychic, who charms her with his act. When he announces that someone will die at his next show, Mary asks Danny to have paramedics standing by. He skeptical of Anton's powers and uncovers his scam, but Anton turns out to be right: the person who drops dead is Anton.

The Professor and Nessa work up a plan to switch the deck during a blackjack tournament. As the game starts, however, Big Ed arrests the professor and hauls him off. Danny, two steps behind everyone, realizes that Nessa was working for Ed the whole time.

What We Learned

  • Danny's just laying out some options for him, like his left hand or his right hand.
  • Ed is trying to avoid violence.
  • Mary's aura is very close to the surface.
  • Delinda's working and Ed thinks that's kind of a novel idea.
  • They're not on the list. Oh, that's cold.
  • Mary is very impressed that Danny used his time and Monteceito's money to bust one of their own entertainers.
  • Ed's opinion is the only one that counts.
  • If Danny was less secure in his relationship with Ed, he might think Ed didn't trust him.
  • Danny's bad cop routine needs work. A lot of work.

What Did I Think?

Pretty obvious, but still more fun than not. It's about time Nessa got something to do.
