What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas

Las Vegas Episode Review

In which "Is that a threat?" goes on the Big List of Stupid Questions.

What Happened

Sleazebag Senator Henderson shows up for his monthly visit to Vegas, looking forward to a weekend of sex and gambling. Danny is not too busy drooling over shots of Delinda on the security screens to spot a reporter named Walker skulking around the casino floor, taking pictures of Henderson.

Disregarding Ed's orders, Danny interferes in the investigation of his best friend's murder, with Delinda inviting herself along. Not content to leave it to the cops, Danny chases the suspect down the street and beats the snot out of him. After that, Danny goes off to help Mary figure out why the wave machine is broken. Because the thing to do days after your best friend's brutal death is to laugh at a guy in full armor participating in a surfing contest?

Back in the other half of the episode, Danny asks Ed why he is always covering for Henderson, getting a vague story about a covert op gone bad. Their bonding moment is interrupted by Walker's reappearance. Danny finally runs Walker down, but Ed has decided he is through protecting Senator Sleazebag. He tells Danny to give Walker his film and let him go.

Henderson threatens to destroy Ed if he doesn't shut Walker down. Ed refuses. Henderson offers to keep quiet about Ed's past if Ed tears up his marker. Ed refuses. Henderson demands his car and plane. Ed refuses. Henderson collapses into a quivering puddle as Ed explains that he can catch a cab downstairs and fly coach back to Washington.

What We Learned

  • What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
  • If he pinches Sam's ass, she'll deck him.
  • Ed was always good at making things go away.
  • Dead people always leave photos lying around for someone to find while searching their apartment.
  • Every television high school graduate in the past twenty years has had a set of those photo booth pictures taken.
  • You have to be more specific than "punk ass dirtbag" when referring to a potential killer.
  • Danny is very bad at the subtle questioning thing.
  • Nessa is still waiting for Danny to show her the sights of Vegas.
  • Checkout is eleven a.m. sharp.
  • Henderson was just getting a "feel" for his constituents.

What Did I Think?

Not as much fun as the pilot. There just wasn't as much attention given to the Greg storyline as there should have been to make it worth it. Why'd they waste all that time on King Arthur anyway?
