'Cuz Legend of the Seeker seems intent on killing them all off. What HappenedKahlan receives a message from an old friend, asking for help solving the mysterious deaths of several resistance members. By the time Kahlan and the Constable Declan have arrived, Luna is dead and Richard is saying that he killed her. Refusing to believe that's true, Kahlan agrees that it must be magic. Thatticus admits that he didn't really sell the key and gives it to Zedd.Kahlan finally realizes that Declan is the killer and Confesses him. He tells her everything - and that she'd better leave town quickly as he's told the D'Harans where they can find the Seeker. The GoodRichard has knowledge. He indentifies the plants, for example. I always forget that about him. Strange how those little details make a difference. Richard is still in his awkward hero phase, so he's usually the one asking all the questions and wondering what's going on. It's a welcome change to hear him have a new dialogue set once in a while. The BadThis is the second episode in a row where Richard and Kahlan argue over Confessor traditions that we are suddenly hearing about for the first time. Dramatic convenience, much? The ClicheIt's the cover-up that kills you. I mean, if Declan had just stopped killing folks at some point... On the other hand, it's cheap, easy menace to threaten to execute the innocent man, but shows rarely go through with it. This one did. What Did I Think?Twisty tale, but the murder mystery was pretty standard issue. I had Declan pegged from the start. Too helpful and no other purpose in the story. Unfortunately, Zedd and his brother was equally predictable. When the story is this tame, then the dialogue and character needs to work overtime to compensate. While they try with Zedd and Thatticus try to bring the drama, it doesn't really work.
