Mutant X Episode Review

In which Shalimar needs new friends.

What Happened

Shalimar is hit by gunfire while chasing a pair of bikers who have stolen a device that freezes electron movement. Fortunately, her Very Best Friend Ever Nikki is driving by and helps Brennan chase the bad guys off. Also a feral, Nikki was found by Adam as a child, but when he decided to keep Shalimar on the team, he found her a foster home and neglected to pay any more attention to her.

Though Nikki claims that her home-life couldn't be happier, the truth is that she was adopted by a pair of nutcases who tried to beat the beast out of her. Rather than blame adult (Adam) in the situation, she has fixated on how Shalimar got the life Nikki could have had. While Shalimar recuperates, Nikki starts borrowing her clothes and her friends and her spot on the team.

Finally, she lies about where the device buyer and seller are meeting, steals it for herself and tries to use it on Shalimar. All that happens is that Shalimar proves she can kick Nikki's butt, even with an injured leg.

What We Learned

• Staying down isn't Shalimar's style.
• She might wanna reconsider that.
• Shalimar doesn't have a curfew any more.
• Blondes who claim they just want to be your friends? Are usually lying.
• Nikki is sure there's a lot that Jesse could teach her.
• Nikki's not much for subtle, is she?
• If you're a bad guy, train yourself to remember a whole three line address to the meeting place without writing it down.

What Did I Think?

Would Adam really be so careless as to miss the news that Nikki had murdered her adoptive parents?
