Trial By Fire
Painkiller Jane Episode Review
In which Connor needs new friends. Preferably ones that are quicker on the uptake than this, because Painkiller Jane is testing my patience here.
What Happened
Connor is arrested and accused of being a serial arsonist. The last fire killed a woman, so the judge is disinclined to grant bail. There is the problem of Connor's criminal record and putting the team on the stand to talk about Neuros is probably a bad idea.
McBride wonders if maybe they should start telling the truth about Neuros, but the government liaison orders otherwise. He decides that their only chance is to find the Neuro that set the fires.
Worried about Connor's former partner Cole, McBride takes steps to keep him from testifying that they did time for arson. After McBride "kills" Jane in front of him, Cole holds his tongue - even though it shafts his immunity plea.
McBride finally turns up evidence that the murder was related to a marriage gone bad and reveals the true Neuro.
What We Learned

- The truth isn't always the best defense.
- Hunting down chip-monkeys isn't the only thing worth dying for.
- Genius boy strikes again.
- Connor rides a motorcycle.
- Nice to know where your friends stand when the going gets tough.
- The government spent a lot of money training McBride. He is very good at what he does.
- Sometimes you have to lose something to gain something.
Best Line
Samuels: "We're in love."
Stanley: "That's very nice for you."
What Did I Think?
McBride is scary. Remind me not to piss him off. Though I have to admit, I was waiting for a bigger reveal than just that Connor had been in jail for arson. If Andre had reviewed his record, wouldn't have the reason he was tossed in jail been in there? Seriously, wouldn't that have been one of the first questions when hiring him?
