Back From the Dead Again
Pretender Episode Review
In which the Triumvirs' appearance would explain the price of Funyuns.
What Happened
Tensions have been high at the Centre since Mr. Raines was shot, though Miss Parker is far more concerned with her father's disappearance. That is, until she learns that Mr. Lyle has moved into her father's office, along with Brigette, the new cleaner. He begins by implying that Sydney can't be trusted and continues by announcing that the Centre is losing patience with Jarod.
Jarod has moved off to play anatomy professor at a medical school. The brother of one of his students has been missing for a year, but the police have no leads. Jarod is affected by Fernando's mourning, which plays into his own Family Issues. There's also the question of three weeks of his life missing from the Centre DSAs dating around Halloween the year before he escaped.
Sydney remembers being ordered to Europe during those three weeks. Miss Parker tells Broots to search Raines' archive while he's still in the hospital, and to identify Mr. Lyle while he's at it. A DSA shows Mr. Lyle helping Raines perform a seriously nasty experiment on Jarod.
Jarod finds Enrique's body buried in the grave of a cadaver that was delivered to the practice lab. He was buried alive. Dr. Fein's mortician brother last saw Enrique when he was upset about a homeless man brought in to the funeral home. Jarod breaks into Fein's lab and realizes that he was killing test subjects and then reviving them - most of the time.
A flashback reveals that Raines and Lyle were performing similar experiments on Jarod during those missing weeks. It puts him in an exceptionally bad mood when he accuses Fein of killing Enrique and buries him alive, leaving only the neighborhood brat to call the cops.
Meanwhile, Miss Parker goes to visit Raines in the burn unit, poking his scars until he tells her that Mr. Lyle is "the Boogeyman."

- Not a day goes by that Sydney doesn't worry it will be his last.
- Screaming isn't going to help conserve your oxygen.
What Did I Think?
A little heavy-handed on the similarity of what happened to Jarod and what the Evil doctor was doing, but the buried alive ending was pretty cool, and Miss Parker poking Raines was all kinds of twisted.
