Bazooka Jarod
Pretender Episode Review
In which Miss Parker has Family Issues and Jarod finds a bad guy.
What Happened
Jarod leads Miss Parker to a house in one of her mother's photos, a children's home. She tries to match the "rescued children" from the envelope, but all their records were destroyed in a fire in the seventies, shortly after Mrs. Parker died.
Off on his latest escapade, Jarod proves that a Commander on a Naval vessel falsified reports in order to cover up an accident on-board. He blamed the ensign who died for the gas leak in order to keep the aging ship from being mothballed.
When Miss Parker stalks home, she finds Sydney waiting for her. He warns Miss Parker -as a friend- that if she continues to ask questions, she'll end up like her mother.
What We Learned
- Jarod was a fine sewer rat. Never seen someone more excited by excrement.
- Never a cold war when you need one.
- Jarod is the Master of the Dead End.
- Jarod tried being a high school counselor once. The hours were great, but the food was terrible.
- It's a matter of cosmic importance Pratt is not prepared to address: why does Bazooka Joe where an eye-patch.
- Just because some big panel of Admirals said so, doesn't mean it's true.
Best Lines
Jarod: "Parents love their children."
Melina: "Oh, what sitcom are you living in."
What Did I Think?
I guess they had to throw in the Ungrateful Brat in order to distract us from the fact that we've seen this one before. There's the best friend/child/girlfriend of the victim, bad guy, the bad guy's blackmailed sidekick who's really guilty, and the random person in the background who is there to teach Jarod a lesson of some kind about humanity.
