Betrayal
Pretender Episode Review
In which there's always an old saying.
What Happened
Miss Parker shows up at Broots' home one morning to send him to a Centre Data Annex. Information keeps getting transferred there and then stolen; she thinks that it is Jarod. Broots is in the caught inside the building when a man with a machine gun (probably not Jarod) kills everyone, but manages to crawl out through an air vent.
Viewing the videotape, Mr. Lyle suspects that Broots is the mole and sends a decon team after him. Fortunately, Sydney gives him a heads up before Lyle pulls the plug, declaring Broots persona non grata. Worried about his daughter, Broots gets to the school just in time to see Miss Parker whisking Little Debbie away in a sinister black car.
Sydney has told Broots not to trust anyone, but Jarod shows up and suggests that Broots reconsider that. Which Broots does, as they drive away from the nice man with the machine gun. Jarod explains that someone inside the Centre is working with a rogue agent and Broots is now a target for being the wrong place at the wrong time.
Damon, the shooter, has been stealing old sims and using them as road maps to terrorist attacks. The last one taken was a biological attack that Jarod didn't want to do because it involved creating the virus that the Centre claimed it wanted to develop a cure for.
Jarod refused, but Damon offered to get the Centre to free him if he completed the virus. When that didn't work, Damon tortured one of Jarod's few friends in order to convince him. Jarod handed over the disk and watched Damon kill his friend. That was three weeks before Jarod escaped.
Damon's target is identified as a church service serving as a prelude to Bosnian peace talks. Jarod stops him from releasing the virus, but Damon takes Broots hostage on his way out. Motivated by the thought that Little Debbie needs her daddy, Jarod shoots and kills Damon.
