End Game

Pretender Episode Review

In which Jarod has a very short attention span.

What Happened

Jarod investigates the kidnapping of a thirteen year old chess prodigy in Atlanta. Samantha Waters, the profiler on the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force, tells Jarod that this kidnapping is similar to eight that occurred years ago. Six of the boys turned up dead; two were never found. She thinks that they have seventy-two hours to find Bryce.

They eventually realize that the missing two boys from the first round of kidnappings are doing to Bryce what was done to them, brainwashing him into complete obedience to "Father." As they work, Sam begins to question Jarod's personal involvement in the case. They find Bryce, saving him just as "Father" is about to reject him for failing to conform enough.

Mr. Parker asks his daughter to talk to Brigette. His wife has been having mood swings and changing her hair color on a daily basis and Mr. Parker doesn't know what to do about it. Miss Parker and Broots learn way more than they wanted to know about Brigette, her medical history, and her possibly-ongoing relationship with Lyle.

About to tell Daddy what she suspects, Miss Parker can only smile as Brigette announces that she is pregnant. She is -quite frankly- looking a little psychotic around the edges as she congratulates her father.

The Good

  • Well, Ally Walker counts.

The Bad

  • Hmmm. The fact that Mr. Parker -who insisted that he made sure Brigette was sterile before they married- seems just fine with her surprise pregnancy.

The Cliche

  • There are always two kidnappers, one who gets broken by the cops and one who goes down shooting.

Lesson Learned

  • Jarod has a very short attention span.

What Did I Think?

A very good Profiler episode. A little weaker as a Pretender, but with a great character scene between Sam and Jarod.
