The Inner Sense, pt 2

Pretender Episode Review

In which Miss Parker is going to free up Jarod's memory if she has to crack his head open and peel it out with a melon scooper.

What Happened

Jarod and Sydney are comparing notes. Miss Parker doesn't believe that Jarod can't remember being at the Forest House. He tells her that Ethan is involved in a project called "7677." If they can manage to find that, they'll find Ethan. More concerned with what Catherine Parker told Jarod, Miss Parker decides that Raines must know where Ethan is and he may also lead her to Jarod.

Jarod finds Ethan buying explosives. When he tries to talk to Ethan, the voices in his head tell Ethan that he can trust Jarod. Miss Parker and her flunky are another matter and she catches Jarod (as Ethan bolts), takes him home, and demands that he tell her what Catherine told him. Jarod agrees to let Sydney hypnotize him: Catherine Parker told him that she had an "inner sense," one that her daughter shared. The Centre wanted to create a Pretender that had that inner sense, and Catherine was sure that they would kill her when the baby was born.

Lyle gets Raines to activate Ethan, than hands him over to Mr. Parker, who plans to make good use of Raines' little project. While he's doing that, Cox is kidnapping poor Zoe. Lyle and Cox call Jarod, just after Jarod figures out that Ethan is using a subway train to deliver a bomb to a hotel hosting a peace conference.

Broots finds more on the DSA, showing Raines executing Catherine Parker immediately after Ethan's birth. Miss Parker goes to see Raines, offering to consider letting him live another hour if he tells her where Ethan is. Miss Parker asks about Catherine's final plan, but Raines claims that the DSA explaining that was never found. Just as he's about to tell her who the one person is who knows the whole truth, Mr. Parker steps out of the shadows and shoots him.

Major Charles (or a stunt-man pretending to be Major Charles) frees Zoe from Cox and Lyle. Jarod is off tracking down Ethan, and he urges Ethan to listen to his mother's voice and not kill people. Jarod reroutes the train to an abandoned yard, but they have to talk their way past a gun-wielding Miss Parker before getting away. Everyone makes it to the back of the train and jumps, just before it goes boom...

What We Learned

  • Miss Parker is working the aqua-blue faux-leather.
  • Weasel season has just opened.
  • Miss Parker is going to free up Jarod's memory if she has to crack his head open and peel it out with a melon scooper.
  • Major Charles is pretty spry for an old guy.

Problem

  • Um? A bomb powerful enough to take down a hotel should have destroyed the buildings above where-ever it went "boom," not just blow off a few manhole covers. Not to mention, ten seconds travel in a slightly different direction should not have taken it far enough away from the hotel to be completely safe.

What Did I Think?

Never warmed up to Ethan or the entire concept of him. He's cuter than Angelo, but that doesn't cancel out the annoyance factor.
