Jarod's Honor
Pretender Episode Review
In which it would be disrespectful to kill Donny in front of family.
What Happened
Jarod accidentally stumbles across a dying assassin and takes his place on a hit. He's hired by a New Orleans crime lord and saddled with the boss' snarky nephew to keep an eye on his activities. Trying to keep up, Jarod has to work pretty fast to fake the deaths of a businessman and his estranged wife.
Sydney and Miss Parker go to Minneapolis following up on an email from Jarod and wind up at a twins convention, where Sydney runs into a pair of women who participated in one of his brother's studies. He is startled when the twins remember seeing Jacob arguing with Raines a few days before the car accident that left him in a coma.
In between contract killings, Jarod investigates a photo that was emailed to him by Sydney and finds the office of Sonny Eber, a private investigator who specialized in finding missing children. It's a tantalizing clue, but Eber's files only go back twenty years, and Sonny is in the hospital, the victim of a fire.
Later, Jarod calls Sydney, thanking him for sending him the picture of Sonny Eber. Sydney is mystified. He didn't send Jarod a message; he was too busy following Jarod's lead... which Jarod never sent.
What We Learned
- Resolve is one thing, but homicide is another.
- Miss Parker needs a very large drink.
- Don't have to get run over by no truck to get out of the road.
- It would be disrespectful to kill Donny in front of family.
What Did I Think?
These past few episodes have been far more creative in giving Jarod something to do.
