Meltdown

Pretender Episode Review

In which there's not a lot of love in this room.

What Happened

Burn-bag guy Leonard tells Miss Parker that he knew her mother. When he turns up dead, she decides to find out what happened to him. Surveillance tapes show that Leonard was calling Miss Parker; he had found a file on "Mirage," the last project Katherine Parker was working on before she died.

Jarod joins up with a group of thieves who heist some nerve gas and get exposed. Everyone gets very nervous about their impending deaths and anything that might have resembled team cohesion goes out the window. Adding to the tension are memories of their last job, where a little girl was smothered during the robbery. The boss, Mr. Elijah, calls, telling Jarod that the materials he needs to make an antidote are tucked away in the warehouse. It will take five hours to put it together. That's more than enough time for everyone to fall apart. With only four doses of the antidote, Jarod announces that he won't give one to Eve: you murdered the little girl. She confesses, and Jarod reveals that it was all a scam.

Leonard sent Miss Parker a voice-mail, detailing how one of her emails was intercepted. She orders Broots to get her a copy. The email was from Edna Raines, but the video attachment is locked on Mr. Raines' computer. They sneak into his office: Edna asked for a meeting.

What We Learned

  • Elijah calls them.
  • Bleed-out.com has some interesting pictures.
  • Job had a secretary once.
  • Take orders from the science guy.
  • One guilty, all guilty.
  • We all unravel at our own genetic pace.
  • There's not a lot of love in this room.
  • The ingredients in perfume are known as notes.
  • Deleting emails is sort of like losing your car keys.

Best Lines

Raines: "I will not tolerate unstable behavior from Centre employees."
Miss Parker: "I thought it was a job requirement."

What Did I Think?

One of my favorites. Jarod's monologue at the piano is especially cool.
