The Emissary
Queen of Swords Episode Review
In which someone has a brilliant plan to trap and kill the Queen.
What Happened
An ambassador from the King announces that he's going to return to Spain with the head of the Queen of Swords. His only ally is Grisham. How do you think he's going to do?
The Good
- The Queen is a hero to the people of Spain and Montoya is the fool. They obviously haven't been watching the same show we have.
- Peasant #1 is a plant by Ramirez to lead the Queen into a trap when she rescues him. This is a Smart Tess week, however, and she guesses right away something's up.
- "Killing your commanding officer in time of war is treason." Ooh, Grisham's got a secret.
The Bad
- That jar is so going fall over and break when someone picks up the trunk. And wouldn't Wesley know who put the Queen of Swords card inside? Stupid.
The Cliche
- The King's pompous ass keeps interrupting Montoya's whining about needing more soldiers. Fortunately, Peasant #1 is willing to interrupt the pompous ass and get things moving.
- "Get me my red dress." Tessa will go flirt with Ramirez's journalist to get information, just like everyone else.
- Throw Marta in the cage as well, because ten threatened peasants isn't enough.
Best Lines
Tessa: "Relax, Marta."
Marta: "Right after I poison that pompous little toad."
Grisham: "Did you know about this [Peasant #1 and Ramirez]?"
Montoya: "No. I am as shocked and dismayed as you are." Not.
Wesley: "I'm a journalist. I observe and write."
Marta: "How do you sleep?"
Wesley: "Some nights better than others."
What Did I Think?
You know, Wesley had potential, particularly with the whole line of the Queen being a hero in Spain. So why waste my time with Ramirez (though he did have a good plan, I'll give him that) and relegate Wesley to the position of Exposition Boy?
