Terra Nova

Stephen Spielberg produces this honest-to-goodness science fiction epic show. But it airs on FOX, so it's anyone's guess whether it will last through November sweeps.

I liked this show. I saw the pilot at Comicon and was intrigued enough to decide to watch FOX. (Blech.) But at the end of the second hour? I really liked the show.

For one thing, it's straight up science fiction. None of this urban scifi where spooky weird things happen off-camera while federal agents in sensible suits and "scruffy" "scientists" look vaguely worried. There's no "See? We're funny. It's a funny show so don't worry your pretty little head about the weird. It's okay. Not at all challenging. The weird is really just an excuse for the one liners. See?"

Terra Nova goes "Look. It's dinosaurs. And time travel. Get over it."

I even - andthishurts - liked Josh! I know, right? I was all ready to go Tyler from V 2.0 on his butt. Yeah, the sulking at his father was kind of bratty and he should have known running around the jungle would inevitably lead to dinosaur issues. But we'll give him a pass just this once.
